The Basel Convention Coordinating Centre for the African Region (BCCC-Africa) invites applications for the position of Project Assistant the BCCC-Africa. The position is project-based and may last for several years.
ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT
BCCC-Africa is a regional Centre of the Basel Convention, hosted by the government of Nigeria, and is located within the University of Ibadan campus, Nigeria. The core mandate of BCCC-Africa is to support African Parties to the Basel Convention in meeting their obligations to implement the provisions of the convention. This is achieved through capacity building, information dissemination, technology transfer, and projects. The Centre is involved in national and international development activities in the African region, related to the provisions of the Basel convention, and other multilateral environmental agreements (especially the Rotterdam convention, Stockholm convention and the Minamata convention). The activities are mainly funded with grants received from donor organisations.
DUTIES OF THE PROJECT ASSISTANT
The Project Assistant will provide support for the conduct of project activities by:
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
A first degree, and a Masters degree in chemicals-related sciences (e.g. chemistry, industrial chemistry, biochemistry, environmental chemistry, chemical toxicology, etc), and at least two years post-graduation experience in project management.
